2004-11-15: Swing, champagne and Miss Sweden

The prize ceremony banquet at Berns in Stockholm was a great event with many happy faces and a nice dinner in a neat enviroment.
It was a good time to be able to talk a little more to all the peopple one ususally only see and get to exchange a couple of quick phrases with during the race weekends. Almost everyone is busy, from mechanics, catering people, race organiser crew to us drivers who when we´re not in the car are trying to analyze how to get things to go faster, keep the tires alive etc.
The banquet also makes a mark as a round-up of the season, and is a thing to add to the reasons why the SLC Racing Series is a nice series to race in. All small details make the whole picture of a Championship.
On my way to Stockholm I did a stop to chech out the 911 GT3 Cup that GruppeM won the British GT Championship of 2003 with. A really neat car with great potential, and also an opportunity for me to race it in the SLC Racing Series 2005.

After the party, which was very nice, with a really good swing band performning a long set of fitting music, the silly season began. The provisional 2005 calendar has now been set, possible rule changes have been discussed etc. These are important decisions for the planning for the future. There´s a lot to take care of, maintaining or upgrading of cars,  driver contracts, sponsor deals and much more.

I have also looked at the possibilities to race in the Porsche Carrera Cup of Scandinavia, there are some who have asked me if that wouldn´t suit me. And yes it would! I´ve had good times racing Porsches and I´ve won two championships out of two possible in Porsches, so it would be a natural step.
But, as for many other, to work up the budget is a tough one to crack. I need to find a company that have the use of a Porsche 911 GT3 Cup as a marketing tool during a couple of season. It´s actually not much money involved, it only has to get some room in the budget and finally a positive result in the end.
Not only a racing car, but also a marketing tool.
It´s not an easy task, although the best prerequisites with national TV coverage, media cover and a lot of support from Porsche Sweden, as well as being a support class to the Swedish Touring Car Championship. But to get to the grid in Carrera Cup I´ve got to handle the sales business at least as well as the driving and it´s not easy.
I´m not giving up though, and I will continue working hard. In the meantime I cannot say I´ve had anything but a good time racing the last factory built Porsche 993 RSR in the SLC Endurance 3h Championship. Great fun, good practice and a perfect place to roll the "snowball" to grow bigger and bigger...
Talk to you all soon again.
