2004-05-12: Race win and another lap record!   Result: 1st (GT class), 83 laps, 3h 00min 51,010s. Best lap: 1:40.642 (143,976 km/h) Another win and a new lap record was the result for MV Racing in the second SLC Endurance 3h race of 2004! From pole position we went towards a comfortable total win, when with 15 minutes to go, the left rear tyre suddenly exploded on the main straight. I managed to slowly drive back to the pits, the team mounted a new wheel and then I could sprint to the finish and secure the win of the GT-class. Tactics, me and Mårten. Overall we had a good race, Mårten and Håkan ran the first stints up to our one and only refuelling stop. We were among the top five cars all the way through. When I came out on the track it took about eight laps to gain the lead, and then I just speeded away from our competitors. We had a comfortable lead, when suddenly the tire blew.  The tire went without warning... I had to drive 3,5kms on what was left of the wheel to get to the pits. Photo Jonas Christensen. After the tire change it was all about hard racing to the finish, trying to pick up the positions we had lost during the tire incident. Regaining the lead of the GT-class was not so hard today, it took about two laps from the pit stop, and during this chase I also set a new lap record for the SLC Racing Series at Anderstorp (I have two out of two possible this year). After that I continued to chase for the total win, but although gaining a lot on each lap we had to settle for a total 2nd position today, 13 secs behind Ravila Motorsport (class 3/Special Production). Still, what´s important for us was winning the GT-class (class 4), which gave us another full set of points to add to the season standings. A good pit stop strategy and solid driver performances from Håkan, Mårten and me saw us on top throughout the race. Photo J. Christensen.
