2006-06-14: The Green Hell (24h of Nürburgring)

The 24 hours of legendary Nürburgring, a challenge both regarding track and racelenght. This weekend it´s time, I´m going to race there with Levin Racings Porsche 911 GT3 Cup, together with Anders Levin, Martin Morin and Peter Thelin.
The 34th edition of ADAC Zürich 24h-Rennen, is one of the worlds largets races with over 230 competing teams. It draws driver from all over the world, most known drivers are such as DTM-stars Christian Abt, Timo Scheider and also Hans-Joachim Stuck, Claudia Hurtgen and more.

Levin Racing finished total 8th last year, right behind the factory teams, a sensation which says a lot about the quality of Swedish racing. Hopefully we´ll be able to better that even more this time, it´s an honor to be in the car to try to achieved that.

A 24 hour race puts great demands on competitors and the car. The G-forces wear out the driver, the heat in the car causes dehydration and the 25 kilometer long track with it´s 33 lefthanders and 40 righthanders and a lot of blind corners going over crests or through narrow valleys, it definitely deserves it´s name "The Green Hell". Three time Formula 1 World Champion Jackie Stewart once said, whoever calls this his favourite track didn´t drive fast enough.

Media coverage is massive, in 2005 175 hours was broadcasted from the race on almost 100 TV-channels. Only Germany had 11 million viewers. 2001 articles were written and pushlished in 97 million copies. The race is a gigantic party around the track, last year saw 220.000 spectators.
ADAC Zürich 24h-Rennen at the Nürburgring starts at 3 pm saturday, june 17th, and ends 24 hours later. German channel DSF broadcats the whole race live.

Before the race, I prepare with gocart practice, watching in-car films from the track and also learning the track on polaystation.
I am feeling confident for the race, I know the car type very well and I´ve done a sight seeing lap on the track last summer so I know a bit what to expect at least.
Free practice starts on friday, follow the action on www.24h-rennen.de. Talk to you soon!
