- Team,
series & TV
I drive the
Mälarverken Racing Porsche 996 GT3 in the Swedish Endurance 3h Cup,
consisting of six races of three hours length. Every race is broadcasted
on Viasat Sport in a 30-minute magazine.
- Race format
and team drivers
In SLC Endurance
3h four pit stops in each race are mandatory. Mälarverken Racing consist
of three drivers, Mårten Samuelsson, Håkan Hall and me. Being
three drivers creates a great team spirit and makes you learn a lot, but
it also sets high pressure on each driver to deliver professionally by
doing fast, smooth stints.
- Pitstops
and strategy
To be allowed
to count a pit stop to the four mandatory ones, it has to consits of a
driver change or switching all four wheels. Refuelling is not counted as
one of the mandatory, although one mostly has to refuel during a three
hour race. The car is therefore equipped with a 100-litre fuel tank and
a fast fuelling system which makes onyl one quick stop necessary. This
we often combine with a driver change to save an extra run through the
pits. The race strategies are very important just like in Formula 1, Indy
500 or the Le Mans, and we always try to do our stpos when theres is a
safety car situation or yellow flags on the track.
- Performance
During a one
hour stint flat out the body is subjected to great stresses. It is usually
very hot inside the car, the concentration level is extreme and the G-forces
during every acceleration, braking and corner mercilessly wears out every
muscle in your body. To withstand this and keep the head cool it is necessary
to be in good shape as well as being able to focus mentally no matter the
strain. Otherwise, when the body is exhausted, your head gets sluggish,
the concentration lowers and judgement gives way and that is when mistakes
start to happen.
- Goals
My season
goal is to get top results as usual and win races. If that is fulfilled,
we can hopefully defend the SLC Endurance 3h GT-class title of 2004. I
also have as a personal goal to get a race seat in an international GT-racing
series.
